An unexpected, chance encounter which leads to a happy ending/
a happy accident/
a pleasant surprise – these are some ways to describe the magical thing that is serendipity.
It is also known as the backbone of a large majority of rom-coms – and I’ve been fortunate to have known what this could feel like.
As a self-confessed romantic, I continue to have faith in serendipitous-ness, and the most recent reminder of this came up as a monochromatic animated short film, Paperman, which won the Oscars for Best Animated Short Film.
The 7-minute film features expressive animation and rich, crafted layers of ambient sounds and a lovely score.
